Man fined $1,000 after police say he ignored mandatory mask rule
A man has been handed a $1,000 ticket after Halifax Regional Police say he ignored the mandatory mask rule in the lobby of an apartment building.
Officers were called to the Halifax building at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say they reminded the man about the provincial requirement under the Health Protection Act to wear a mask that covers both the nose and mouth in public places.
Then, when HRP received a second call reporting the man was still ignoring the rule, they returned to the building and handed him the ticket.
“Enforcement of these restrictions remains a vital part of the overall strategy to curb the pandemic,” police said. “We all must follow the rules and do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.”
