All-time-low for Halifax’s vacancy rate hits renters hard
The vacancy rate in Halifax has fallen to a measly one percent, lower than most cities across the country.

According to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) the vacancy rate dropped to one percent in 2019 meaning that, on average, only one percent of rental units were available at any given time. Availability of two-bedroom apartments dropped even lower, to 0.9 percent.
