HRM to consider KPIs, timeframes for development applications, permits

At Tuesday’s Halifax regional council meeting, Mason (Halifax South Downtown) asked for staff to investigate a system of tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and timelines for permits and meeting timelines for developments.
“It’s not about throwing staff under the bus, it’s far from it,” Mason said.
This idea was triggered by a visit to council chambers by Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister John Lohr in November, Mason said.
Lohr quoted a May 2020 Canadian homebuilders report that scored Halifax 20 out of 22 major Canadian municipalities for approval timeline process, and it also showed HRM has more staff than the Canadian average. …[Read More]
